Insertion & Removal of Soft Lenses
Insertion
- Always wash your hands thoroughly using antibacterial soap and ensure they are completely dry using a lint-free cloth before handling your lenses.
- Place the lens on the tip of the index finger of your right hand and ensure that the lens is not inside out.
- Hold the upper eyelid open using your left hand, making sure your fingers are placed along the lash line to help keep the eye wide open.
- Using the middle finger of your right hand, pull the lower eyelid down and move the lens towards the eye.
- Gently place the lens onto the cornea and look down.
- Once the lens is safely in the eye, gently release the eyelids.
- Repeat the process for the other eye.
- If you are left-handed, simply swap hands during the process.
Removal
- Always wash your hands thoroughly using anti-bacterial soap and ensure they are completely dry using a lint free cloth before handling your lenses.
- Use your left hand to hold open the top lid.
- Lower the bottom lid using the middle finger of your right hand.
- Place the index finger of your right hand on to the centre of the lens whilst at the same time looking up. This will allow the lens to move down.
- Now, keeping your thumb and index finger apart by a distance of approximately the width of your eye, bring them together and gently pinch the lens off the surface of the eye.
- Repeat the process for the other eye.
- If you are left handed, simply swap hands for the process.
